Questions
Does it record me or use my microphone?
No. It captures only the sound your Mac is playing, and only while you have it listening. The microphone is never used, and no audio is saved.
Do you see what I watch or the subtitles it makes?
No. We operate no servers for the app and receive nothing from it. Transcripts live in memory for the current session and disappear when you clear them or quit, unless you export them yourself.
What happens to my text if I use a cloud AI provider?
The transcribed text, plus a few earlier sentences for context, goes straight from your Mac to the provider you chose, using your own API key. That provider's privacy policy applies to it. We are not in the middle and store nothing.
What do I need?
A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26 or later. macOS downloads the speech model and translation languages the first time you use them.
